World Habitat Day is October 5, 2026
Every year, communities around the world come together to recognize World Habitat Day, a global observance established by the United Nations to highlight the importance of safe, adequate, and affordable housing for everyone.
At Tahlequah Area Habitat for Humanity, we believe that everyone deserves a safe place to call home. A stable, affordable home provides more than shelter, it creates a foundation for families to build strength, stability, and self-reliance.
Here in Cherokee County, we see the impact of affordable housing every day. Through homeownership opportunities and critical home repairs, we work alongside local families to create safe and stable places to live. Our work is made possible by the generosity of volunteers, donors, sponsors, community partners, and everyone who believes that housing is a foundation for a stronger community.
Celebrate World Habitat Day With Us
Throughout the month of October, we are celebrating World Habitat Day with our $1 House Campaign to help support the construction of Habitat House #40.
Stop by the Habitat ReStore or ReStore Rack to make a donation of $1 or more. With your donation, you can sign your name on a paper house that will be displayed on our Mission Wall throughout the month of October 2026.
Each paper house represents someone in our community who believes in the importance of safe, affordable housing. As the wall grows, it becomes a visual reminder of what we can accomplish when we build together.
